In 2000, roughly 2 million people voted in Tennessee, about 750,000 by early voting.
Already in 2004, with 3 days of early voting left to go, nearly 800,000 people have voted. At this rate, roughly 1 million people will vote early, a 33% increase from 2000.
What's the latest word from across the country on early voting?
I don't think that Kerry has much of a prayer of winning Tennessee, but I do believe that a big turnout in Tennessee portends big turnouts elsewhere (as many others have noted), which will help Kerry.
It would be great for someone with more time and Tennessee savvy than I to delve into the early voting statistics and see whether we can discern any partisan leanings from it.
